A CONCENTRATION OF NONE

ONGOING SERIES, 2026—

A Concentration of None is an ongoing mixed-media series about adaptation, self-awareness, and the ways we reshape ourselves to fit our surroundings. The work considers what happens when we absorb so much of our surroundings that it begins to alter and deform our sense of self, and the desire to belong slowly becomes the urge to disappear. Working with fibers, handmade paper, beads, glass, paint, and remnants of previous work, I rip apart things I have already created to reclaim autonomy over them. Paper pulp is folded, bent, compressed, and reshaped into abstract expressions of a person reduced to particles. Dark hues and sharp, broken forms suggest something shattered but trying very hard to mend itself. At its core, the series is about the agonizing awareness of no longer recognizing yourself, and the decision to resist disappearing to gather what remains and put yourself back together, no matter what shape that takes.
